Greencity is a new, largely self‑contained urban quarter in Zürich‑Manegg (southwest of the city), built on the former site of the Sihl‑paper factory along the Sihl river. It is designed as Zürich’s first “2000‑watt” district, aiming for low energy use and CO₂‑neutral operation through renewable energy, heat‑pump‑based heating, groundwater cooling, and large rooftop photovoltaic systems.
The district combines around 700–750 apartments, offices, shops, a school, a hotel, and community facilities, with green courtyards, pocket parks, and tree‑lined streets that integrate the area into the Sihl‑valley landscape while remaining just minutes by train from the city centre.
